Creating and supporting culture on the water

We create social infrastructure
that connects New Yorkers to our harbor.
We're a community of designers and makers
building an agile future as a coastal city.

The Tideland Institute connects New Yorkers to our harbor by creating and supporting culture on the water. We make creative interventions like floating libraries, public docks, and boat-in concerts to help people engage with the water as a place and envision a future that is integrated and agile in the face of environmental change.
We create celebrations, workshops, residencies, grants, infrastructure, and opportunities for stakeholders to form community. We believe that engaging creatively with the water will enable us to envision and build an adaptive future as a coastal city.
